ABOUT TO THE POWER OF X²
ABOUT THE POWER OF X²
To The Power of X² is a national Services SETA initiative creating 20 000 structured, 24-month internship opportunities for eligible unemployed graduates across South Africa.
The programme connects graduate talent with workplace opportunities across the public and private sectors, enabling graduates to gain meaningful workplace experience, practical skills, professional exposure and mentorship.

FOR HOST EMPLOYERS
South Africa has graduate talent ready for the workplace. We are calling on employers across all nine provinces to provide meaningful workplace opportunities and help us turn qualifications into experience.
FOR GRADUATES
Graduate registration remains open to maintain a national talent pool for matching with available workplace opportunities.
Important: Registration does not guarantee placement. Placement is subject to programme eligibility, the availability of suitable approved workplace opportunities and successful matching with host employer requirements.
HOW TO THE POWER OF X² WORKS
To The Power of X² brings together graduate talent and workplace opportunities through a structured national process.
1. GRADUATES REGISTER
Eligible graduates register their profiles through the official To The Power of X² platform and upload the required supporting documents. All documents must be clear, complete and legible to support verification.
2. EMPLOYERS REGISTER WORKPLACE OPPORTUNITIES
Public and private-sector employers identify the number of graduates they can host, their workplace locations and the qualifications or skills they require.
3. WORKPLACES ARE APPROVED
Before any placement takes place, prospective host workplaces undergo an approval process. This includes applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and COIDA compliance requirements, as well as confirmation that the workplace can provide appropriate supervision and meaningful workplace experience.
4. GRADUATES ARE MATCHED
Eligible graduate profiles are matched against approved workplace opportunities based on factors such as qualification, field of study, employer requirements, location and available capacity.
5. PLACEMENTS BEGIN
Successfully matched graduates enter a structured 24-month internship, supported by workplace supervision and mentorship.
The first cohort is expected to commence from September 2026, with placements progressively increasing as workplaces are approved and suitable matches are completed.
6. PARTICIPANTS ARE SUPPORTED
Services SETA funds the programme, including the approved graduate stipends and a laptop for each placed participant. African Global Skills Academy, the Services SETA-appointed Programme Management Unit, manages the operational implementation and participant administration on behalf of Services SETA.
